Ano Ang POGO?
Heto ang definition ng wikipedia.
Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) is the official designation for firms operating in the Philippines that offer online gambling services to markets outside the country, particularly China. POGOs began operating in the Philippines in 2003 and have been regulated by the Philippine government since 2016, at the start of Rodrigo Duterte’s presidency. During this period, the industry flourished and generated significant revenues for the Philippine government.[1] POGOs were banned by President Bongbong Marcos on July 22, 2024, during his third State of the Nation Address.
POGO operators rent office spaces, naghahire sila or nagbibigay employment sa mga Pinoy, nagbibigay income sa mga restaurants at iba pa.
Malalaking tax ang nacocollect ng government mula sa POGO. Malaki din ang naitulong ng POGO sa economy ng Pilipinas.
POGOs contributed approximately 110 Billion pesos nung 2019 at 50 billion pesos noong 2022 mula sa operational expenses, salaries, and office rent.
Ang naging problema lang ay nagkaroon ng mga illegal activities at crimes within POGO establishment. Marami ang nag-engage sa financial scamming, money laundering, prostitution, human trafficking, kidnapping, and even murder. Kung familiar kayo kay ALICE GUO ay natalakay din sa issue niya ang mga problema about POGO.
May advantage ang pagkakaroon ng POGO pero naoutweigh ito ng mga disadvantages kaya nagdeclare si President Marcos ng total ban ng POGO.
