Earnings Report: A Vet’s Opinion
I had a few interesting discussion with some veteran trader friends of mine over the weekend.
When I say veteran traders ay mga traders na may over 15 years na din sa trading.
Yung topic ng earnings report came up.
What I’m about to tell you might infuriate, inspire or shock you.
Malalaman mo daw ang kinaiba ng newbie sa vet sa way nila tumingin sa earnings report.
Weekend ngayon kaya I’m happy to share na kumita na naman ang mga TDSI students.
May kumita ng 25,000 pesos this week.
After exit ay nagwithdraw na din siya ng kinita niya.
The rest ay may kanya-kanyang kita din.
I locked in 730,000 pesos na gain this week.

Balik tayo sa topic ng earnings report.
Newbies and vets differ sa way nila tumingin sa earnings report.
Direct
Newbies were introduced sa idea ng earnings report as something na may direct effect sa price.
Good earnings report equals price go up.
Bad earnings report equals price go down.
Thus, may excitement palagi kapag earnings season.
“Find a stock that has a good earnings at undervalued.”
Yan ang isa sa mga famous generic na advice sa mga baguhan sa trading.
Indirect
Kapag newbie ka at naeexcite ka sa mga earnings ay normal lang yun.
If you have been trading for 15 years or more ay mawawala yung excitement na yun at mapapalitan ng knowledge based sa experiences mo.
Vets do not look at an earnings report as something na may direct relation sa direction ng price.
Why?
Experience.
The longer you stay sa market ay the more kang makakakita ng mga may negative earnings na stock pero umaakyat as well as may great earnings na stock pero bumabagsak or walang galaw.
What’s worse is yung style pa ng mga news maglabas ng report na confusing.
“Company A’s earnings is up by 30 percent this quarter.”
Yun pala eh umakyat siya this quarter compared last quarter pero in relaity eh bagsak pa din if ikukumpara mo last year.
Baka confused ka ay let me explain it using kamatis.
Mula January to March last year ay kumita ng 10,000 ang kamatis business ni Mang Jose.
Mula March to June ay kumita ng 12,000 pesos.
This year mula January to March ay kumita ng 5,000 pesos ang kamatis business ni Mang Jose.
Mula March to June ay kumita ng 7,500 pesos.
Bumaba ang kita ng kamatis business ni Mang Jose kung ikukumpara mo last year but you could say na umangat ng 50 percent ang income ng kamatis business ni Mang Jose mula March to June compared nung January to March.
You get the point?
Lahat ng earnings news or report na bagsak ay may but lagi yan.
Yes bagsak compared last year but….
But up siya compared last quarter….
Experience
Kung may best teacher sa trading, experience yun.
Mag-iiba ang mga ideas na meron ka through experience.
You may not agree with this blog kasi nga you still lack the years of experience pagdating sa direct at indirect relation ng earnings report sa price.
The more na nakakakita ka ng mga may negative or walang income na stock na umaakyat yung price ay the more maoopen ang eyes mo.
Only those na di naglelearn ay yung mga traders na ayaw buksan ang mata through experience.
Meron din kasing mga traders na ganyan.
Tipong instead maglearn ay hinahanapan ng dahilan gaya ng “napump lang yan pero basura pa rin yan na stock kasi negative earnings.”
Tuwing may umaakyat na walang earnings or negative ang earnings ay kinoconsider nila na anomaly ito.
Anomaly sa tinatayuan nilang idea or principle but its normal occurrence sa stock market.
I could blog about a lot of lessons pa but parang ang haba na nga ng blog na ito kay I will end it here.
