$MPI: The Reality Of Investing!

THEORY VERSUS REALITY
You find great stocks, buy them, hold them for a long time and retire happy and rich.
You find great stocks, buy little shares every month, do that for 20 years, retire happy and rich.
Yan ang dalawang common approach sa investing.
That is a great plan in theory but hindi natitake into consideration ang downside ng ganyan na plan.
Most do not even believe na may downside ang plan na yan until MPI showed up.
You put in small amount of money each month kasi plan mo magretire after 20 years.
Month after month ay bumibili ka ng konti. Mataas man or mababa ang price go lang.
Then…boom! Biglang magpapadelist with a low tender offer.
The same goes if you buy and hold.
Okay lang kung below 4.63 pesos ang average mo. Paano kung nasa 6 or 7 pesos ang average mo?
Paano na ang pangarap mo na magretire na mayaman eh magpapadelist na hinawakan mo na stock for a long time?
MPI is not a basura stock.
Isa ito sa “cream of the crop” ng mga top stocks sa PSE.
Di mo pwedeng sabihin na “nasa stock picks kasi ang key” kasi pang top notch na stock pick ang MPI.
RISK
Walang “safe” or “low risk” kapag stock market ang pinag uusapan.
Investing may appear less risky compared sa trading but they both belong sa high risk form of investment in the sense na anything can happen sa stock market.
As weird as MPI may seem ay hindi ito unang bluechip na nagpadelist.
Nangyare na ito noon pa kay EDC.
Maraming bluechip noon na after some time ay parang basura stock na sila.
YOU COULD ALWAYS LOSE MONEY
Kapag nasa stock market ka ay may chance ka laging magkaroon ng loss regardless kung anuman ang approach mo.
Trading man yan or investing.
May mga uncontrolled and unforseen events na pwedeng mangyare.
Lahat ng inaassume mo na matitibay na stocks ay pwedeng magdecide one day na magpadelist.
Walang rule na bawal ka magpadelist. Ang rule ay magtender offer ka if plan mo magpadelist.
Some will wake up kay MPI gaya ng mga nagising noon kay EDC and magiging proactive at careful na sila sa investments nila in the future. They will understand and respect the risk involve pagdating sa stock market. Some will take this event as an outlier and get surprised again some years down the road if another “great” stock suddenly decided magpadelist.
