Things Only Vet Traders Would Understand!

I used to ask TDS to back test different years using our strategy.

Charts after charts after charts.

We do that to show them that the strategy worked sa past and also to train their eyes sa chart.

We showed them na our strategies worked but here is something na most vet won’t ever tell you.

You can backtest your strategy but you need to understand na yung pagbabacktest mo or result ng backtest mo ay hindi yan indication ng magiging result sa future.

I’m not going to go too deep sa pagpapaliwanag and its up to you kung kukunin mo ang lesson sa blog na ito or not but a lot of backtested strategies that produced great results sa past never worked out sa future.

Lalo na eh bull market na years ang pinagtetestingan mo ng startegy mo.

Kahit MA9 na indicator alone would have given you a lot of great trades if nitest mo ito mula 2009 to 2018.

Vet traders know this and most of them pangiti-ngiti lang yan pag nagtatanong ka ng mga batting average at winrate ng strategy nila.

Andaming 9/10 ang winrate at batting average ng strategy na gamit nila noong 2016 pero out na sa trading ngayon kasi naipit, nasunog or nawipeout nung nagkacrash at nagkabear market.

You cannot test the future. Lahat ng test ay magagawa mo lang sa hindsight and ibang vantage point meron ka kapag past ang tinitingnan mo while nasa present ka.

Strategy is a small part lang ng success mo sa trading.

The more you experience trading ay the more mo yan mafifigure out.

If newbie ka ay di mo gaanong maiintindihan ang statement na yan sa taas and you probably would treat that as something na di gaanong important but kung vet trader ka na nakaranas ng sobrang daming losses sa past due to things outside your strategy then you would consider that statement true and important.

May tama at maling approach ang trading.

If naiipit, nasusunog at nawawipeout ka ay malamang dahil yan sa maling approach mo and it may have little to do with the strategy you are using.
